What does a Postpartum Doula do?

I am here to ease your family through the ups and downs of the first weeks and months after your newborn or newborns arrive(s). Some of the many ways I can offer support is through light housework like washing your dishes, running a quick vacuum, and heating up a meal on your stove. Often if the baby isn’t your first child, there can be a lot of transitional discomfort for the older siblings. Many clients find relief in having me spend time playing or otherwise entertaining their older children. This allows them to relax more and can reduce the mental and physical load that comes with parenting multiple children. I can grab groceries, bring you a hot drink, and spend time just sitting and listening to what’s on your mind. I am also there to help you troubleshoot any feeding or sleep issues you and your baby(s) may run into.
I work with each client, ideally before the baby is due to arrive, to come up with a care plan that can -and often will- be adjusted along the way.

It is vital to remember that I am there to help and gently encourage the growth and healthy attachment of the family unit as a whole. I take into account each family member included. As the mother, your happiness is inevitably linked to the health of the household and in order for you to thrive, you must be within a calm and familiar home environment surrounded by those you trust.
